North’s Residential & Industrial Cleaning has a simple philosophy: show up, do the job right, and take care of people.

Founded in 1988, Jim and Janet North took over the company in 2025, eager to build on the legacy left by the former owners. Those owners had opportunities to sell to large national corporations, but that’s not the route they took.

“She really cared about her people,” Jim explains. “I don’t think she wanted to see them lose their jobs or the culture they had.”

Leadership Built on Experience and Empathy

Jim spent more than 23 years in the service and beverage industries, leading teams across multiple states.

“I’m really good at relationships,” he says. “Routes. Teams. Consistency. Those things translate across industries.”

Janet brings deep leadership experience as well, along with a clear vision for what a small business should feel like. Both had worked in large corporations and understood the benefits, but also the limitations.

“We’ve been there,” Janet says. “We know what we liked and what we didn’t. The goal was to take the best parts of that world and apply them to a small, family-owned company.”

Maintaining Quality — and Investing in Growth

When Jim and Janet stepped in, the company already had strong residential and commercial clients, including long-standing relationships with restaurants like Wendy’s and Panera Bread, as well as large venues such as the Blumenthal Performing Arts Centers.

“This wasn’t about reinventing the wheel,” Jim says. “It was about maintaining the level of service that was already there and then investing where growth made sense.”

Today, the company serves homes, offices, schools, churches, and commercial spaces across North Carolina and beyond. Their work ranges from deep carpet cleaning and tile and grout restoration to upholstery care and large-scale commercial flooring projects.

“There’s really not a lot we can’t do,” Jim says. “And if we can’t, we’ll tell you and help point you in the right direction.”

A Team That Makes the Difference

One of the company’s greatest strengths is its people.

Many team members have been with the business for 15, 20, even 25 years. That experience shows in the quality of the work and the trust customers place in the team.

“When you call our office, you’re talking to people who really know what they’re doing,” Jim says.

Why Union County

Jim and Janet intentionally moved the office for North’s RIC to Monroe.

“Our office manager lives here,” Jim explains. “My wife has deep roots here. And we wanted the transition to be as smooth as possible for the team.”

Staying connected to the Chamber and the local business community was a natural extension of that commitment.

“The biggest thing for us is just letting people know we’re here,” Jim says. “Call us. Ask questions. Don’t hesitate. Even the smallest things can make a big difference for your home or your business.”

North’s Residential & Industrial Cleaning is committed to earning the trust of their clients through excellent work, building relationships, and sharing their expertise.
