Union County has a robust and diverse manufacturing and business sector. One of the most important responsibilities our employers have is ensuring employees make it home safely. And businesses in Union County excel in that regard.
The North Carolina Department of Labor Safety Awards honor organizations who are committed to maintaining a safe workplace. Each year, we partner with the NCDOL to host the Safety Awards Luncheon.
This year, the celebration will take place on Thursday, June 5 from 11:00- a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Union County Agricultural Center. Secretary of Labor Luke Farley and a team from the DOL will be there to hand out awards to local recipients.
Silver Awards are given to organizations whose rate of days from work is at least 50% below the industry average. Those organizations whose rate of days away from work, job transfer, or restriction is at least 50% of the industry average receive Gold Awards. Finally, Million Hour Awards are given to companies which accumulate one million employee hours with no injuries or illnesses involving days away from work.
